Volunteer Wrangler Program

About this program

Saddle up and join the Spur Valley Horses Wrangler Program, where horse lovers can get hands-on with our magnificent horses while helping people connect with them in safe, meaningful, and fun ways.

Under the guidance of EAL Canada and certified EAL coach Rae-Lyn Pighin, our Wrangler Program is a specialized certification course designed to train you to assist Certified EAL Facilitators in delivering horse-human interaction programs. You’ll gain practical, hands-on experience working with our horses in educational and recreational settings.

What Wranglers Do:

  • Assist coaches by setting up sessions and equipment
  • Prepare horses and ensure the safety of horses, clients, and coaches
  • Maintain confidentiality and create a welcoming environment for all participants

Why Join:

  • Learn about horse behavior and horsemanship in a supportive, hands-on environment
  • Gain a Wrangler Certificate after completing a 3-hour course with Coach Rae-Lyn
  • Volunteer in programs including kids’ camps, personal development sessions, team-
  • building events, and horsemanship experiences
  • Celebrate your hard work at our end-of-season banquet, with buckles and prizes—many donated by locals in memory of their favorite cowboys and cowgirls 

Who Can Join:

  • Horse lovers of all skill levels (no prior trainer experience required)
  • Ages 14 and up
  • Passion for working with horses and people is a must
